Despite the fact that it’s summer, it has been storming here constantly. On top of that, we are still in a global pandemic. Here is a list of things to do when you’re stuck inside!

Create an Indoor Garden

If you can’t garden outside, you can still totally garden indoors. The best part is that you can make this idea whatever you want it to be!

Do you love to cook? Maybe do an herb garden. Are you yearning for those beautiful summer blooms? Plant some flowers. Do you want to really nourish some new life? Try planting some propagated houseplant cuttings!

You don’t have to have a ton of space for an indoor garden. You can place a little collection of pots almost anywhere. Just make sure if you have pets, your plants are safe for them. If not, make sure they’re placed outside of their reach!

Restyle a Room

Getting bored with looking at the same space every day? Restyle it! Move furniture around, change out your decor, or pick up something new. I am always telling people that they wouldn’t believe how simple it is to change the look of their space.

I’m also reminding them that it doesn’t have to be expensive. Take décor you have throughout your home and move it to other rooms. Style a shelf differently by moving the items already on it around. Swap out rugs. It really is that simple and inexpensive.

People often think the way they have their furniture is the only way it can work in the room. I’m here to tell you, that is nearly never true! Try a new arrangement. Worst case scenario, you don’t like it, and you can just move it back.

Game Day

Create a list of games your family enjoys and make an Olympic day out of it. Board games, video games, wii, card games, or backyard games all work. Pick your favorites and make a game day schedule. You can also draw up a bracket and scoreboard if you want to keep track of winners. Come up with a prize idea, too.

Prizes can be anything big or small. Pick something that makes sense for your family.

Winner gets to:

Pick dinner for the weekend.
Gets out of a chore.
Gets a gift card.
An activity of their choice.

Don’t forget some game day snacks too!

Step Up Your Movie Night

Sure, you could just throw a bag of popcorn in the microwave, but that’s no fun. Step up your movie night by taking some time to make quality food and snacks. Making your own pizza is actually a lot of fun and you can make it EXACTLY how you want it. Thin crust, extra cheese anyone?

A charcuterie board is another yummy idea. Cut up some meat and cheese, add some fruit or nuts. Dips, spreads, and jams are another great addition. This can be whatever you’re craving!

If you love cocktails, whip some of those up too. I have found that it’s easiest to make a pitcher of one cocktail so you don’t have to drag out a bunch of ingredients every time you want to make another.

Attempt that Pinterest Idea

I know your boards are filled with ideas that you planned to get to one day. Well, it’s that time. Check what you need to make it happen and get it going!

You might fail, but it might be awesome. That’s the mystery and fun of trying something new. If it doesn’t work, try another idea. You’re inside with time on your hands, so why not now?

Try a Fun Coffee Trend

I swear there are a million coffee recipes and trends right now. Some of them look beautiful and some sound just downright delicious. Look up ideas and see what you need to create a cup.

I tried Dalgona coffee and I have to say, I am in love! Sometimes I let the milk sift through the whipped coffee. Other times, I mix it all together with ice. It’s delicious either way. To make Dalgona coffee:

You need a bowl, whisk, instant coffee, hot water, sugar, and milk.

I like these instant coffee packs because they’re individual so no measuring required. https://amzn.to/2W9Dmct

Put one packet of instant coffee into a bowl with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of hot water and start whisking. You don’t have to whisk super fast, but you do have to whisk consistently.

The mixture will start to thicken. Keep whisking until the mixture forms peaks. Once it’s done, I put milk and a little bit of coffee creamer into a glass and then spoon the whipped coffee on top. You don’t have to add creamer, I just like the taste of it.

Also, don’t think you need fancy and expensive coffee machines to make these recipes. There’s plenty of ways to achieve your coffee goals with simple kitchen appliances.

Take Care of Your Plants

Now that you have time on your hands, take care of your plant maintenance. Pruning, watering, and repotting probably all need to be done.

If you need some ideas for plants that are easy to care for, you can check out some options here https://thisgirlathome.com/5-easy-care-houseplants/

Name your plants while you’re at it. I swear I take better care of mine when I give them an identity. Plus, it’s funny to come up with different names for them. Go with what speaks to you.

A tip to remember is not to repot your plants too soon. When the roots are starting to come through the bottom holes, it’s time to repot.

Try Out a New Look

Try on different outfits you might not normally wear or see how items look together. Give yourself long bangs. Now is the time to try out those things you wonder about, but haven’t committed to doing.

Sometimes I’ll try out new makeup looks while I’m home. Can I rock a deep, vampy lip? Do I look good with a Smokey eye? At home I sure can and do!

Depending on how long this pandemic goes on, I may continue to make these lists with new ideas because, honestly, there really is a lot to do!
